What is behind the Merger of AppSource and Azure Marketplace?
Previously, AppSource and Azure Marketplace addressed different target groups and areas of application. AppSource focused primarily on business applications (AI apps and agents) used in conjunction with Dynamics 365, Microsoft 365, and Power Platform. Azure Marketplace, on the other hand, was primarily aimed at IT professionals and developers looking for cloud solutions, infrastructure components, and technical services.
The merger of these two platforms now aims to make the search for Microsoft cloud and AI solutions and third-party software easier and more efficient - with the Microsoft Marketplace  everything runs on one central platform.
The Microsoft Marketplace: Go-live in the US in September 2025
The new Microsoft Marketplace was first released in the US on September 25, 2025. At launch, more than 3,000 free and paid AI apps and agents were already available. These include products that extend Microsoft 365 Copilot and Azure AI Foundry. This is Microsoft’s platform for building and managing AI apps and agents.
Of course, our apps  (e.g., DATACAP, BONI, and DOCIN) can also be found in the Marketplace.
Benefits for Users and Companies that use the Microsoft Marketplace
1. Centralized Search and Management
By combining AppSource and Azure Marketplace, users no longer have to switch between two marketplaces. All applications - from business apps to technical cloud components - can now be found in one place.
2. Simplified Purchasing Process
A uniform checkout and licensing model makes the purchase process of software solutions significantly leaner and clearer.
3. Better Integration
Many solutions can now be more easily integrated into existing Microsoft environments. This is particularly advantageous for companies with hybrid IT structures that operate both local and cloud systems.
4. Greater Reach for Vendors
ISVs (independent software vendors) that offer free or paid applications benefit from greater visibility and reach, as their products no longer need to be listed on two platforms.
Easy Access to Software Solutions and better Integration into the Microsoft Ecosystem
With the new Marketplace, Microsoft provides a central, user-friendly, and powerful platform. This simplifies access to a wide range of software solutions while optimizing integration into the Microsoft ecosystem.
Many well-known companies have already been represented with their offerings in the Marketplace at its launch in the US, including Siemens, IBM, and Adobe.
