The third quarter of Microsoft’s 2024 fiscal year was again characterized by strong cloud results. The AI division contributed significantly to the success: new Copilot add-ons offer interesting added value for Microsoft’s customers. This quarter, the software group also made Copilot available to all organizations of all sizes - from large enterprises to small businesses.

Microsoft’s total revenue amounted to $61.9 billion in Q3 and increased by 17% compared to the same quarter of the previous year.

The operating income amounted to $27.6 billion - this figure increased by 23%.

Diluted earnings per share also recorded an increase of 20% - it amounted to $2.94 in this quarter.

Furthermore, Amy Hood, Microsoft CFO, commented that the excellent quarterly revenue with the Microsoft Cloud had been driven by strong execution by their sales teams and partners.
Q3 2024: the Cloud Results
Dynamics products and cloud services revenue increased by 19% compared to the same quarter of the previous year, driven in particular by Dynamics 365 revenue (increase of 23%).
Revenue in the Intelligent Cloud segment amounted to $26.7 billion, which means an increase of 21%.
A highlight: revenue from server products and and cloud services increased by 24%, driven by revenue growth in Azure and other cloud services, which amounted to 31%.

Microsoft recorded another strong quarter in which all key segments achieved good growth figures. The group successfully launched its Copilot add-ons. These have contributed to strong revenue growth. It also confirms that Microsoft is also able to identify use cases for AI that are relevant to customers and (more importantly) also provide added value for them.
