Commercial Cloud Services Microsoft moves to

Annual Local
Pricing Updates
Going forward, Microsoft will adjust the prices of its Commercial Cloud services to reflect exchange rate fluctuations only once a year, rather than twice. 📅 The new policy is intended to provide greater transparency and predictability. But what exactly is changing, and what does this mean for future cost planning?
Price Adjustments due to Exchange Rate Fluctuations will now occur only once a Year
In the past, Microsoft reviewed the prices of its Commercial Cloud services twice a year and adjusted them as needed in response to exchange rate fluctuations. Now, this will happen only once a year.
The new policy takes effect with fiscal year 2027, which began for Microsoft on July 1, 2026. Price changes resulting from product updates, new features, or changes to the scope of services are not affected by this new policy.
Why did Microsoft decide to make this Change?
With this new policy, Microsoft aims to make pricing more predictable for its customers and thereby simplify cost planning. However, exchange rate fluctuations will still generally be factored into prices.
When will the Next Price Harmonization take Place?
Prices will next be updated in local currency on January 1, 2027. January 1 will remain the reference date for regular price harmonization in the future. (Deviations from this date are possible only in exceptional cases.) Information about upcoming price adjustments will always be published in advance, each November.
The most recent price harmonization for Microsoft’s SaaS products took place in February 2026. Thanks to the fixed annual effective date and early communication, you will have time to prepare for potential price changes.
