In recent years, Microsoft has adjusted the prices of its products several times. There have been price changes for specific products such as Dynamics 365 Business Central, Power BI, Teams Phone, and Copilot, as well as changes affecting all cloud products. Prices for maintenance and billing plans have also changed. We summarize Microsoft’s price developments over recent years chronologically for you and provide an outlook on future price adjustments. 👇
Global Harmonization of Cloud Prices: Adjustment of Euro Prices in 2023
In 2023, there was a global harmonization of prices for Microsoft’s cloud products, considering local currency fluctuations. However, the group did not refer to this as an official price increase.
For customers in the euro zone, this meant a price adjustment of 11% as of April 1, 2023. The change affected Dynamics 365 Business Central, Microsoft 365, Power BI, and Power Apps, among others.
Please note that the prices for the monthly cancellation option are higher than those for the annual cancellation option.
Cloud First: Price Increases for Business Central On-Premises and Dynamics NAV from October 1, 2023
Microsoft has underlined its cloud-first strategy with a price increase for Business Central On-Premises and Dynamics NAV at the end of 2023. Purchase prices rose by 11% on October 1, 2023. The price for rental-based subscriptions for all software products increased by 10%.
Higher Maintenance Fees
The fee for maintenance (enhancement plan) increased by 1% - also effective October 1 of this year.
Expiration of On-Azure Discount
As of October 1, 2023, Microsoft also reduced the discount on “On Azure” on-premises subscriptions purchased before October 1, 2022, to 10%.
Business Central On-Premises and Dynamics NAV: Price Changes in October 2024
On October 1, 2024, prices for Business Central On-Premises (purchased licenses) rose again - this time by 7%. Prices for Dynamics NAV (purchased licenses) even rose by 19%. Prices for the respective subscriptions increased by 12%.
The fee for maintenance (enhancement plan) rose by 1%, from 18% to 19%.
In addition, the “On-Azure” discount was reduced to 5% on October 1, 2024.
Small and Big Price Changes from 2024/2025
From April 1, 2025, and December 1, 2024, Microsoft introduced “small” and “large” price changes for certain products.
“Small” Price Changes
Teams Phone
Prices for Teams Phone increased on April 1, 2025. For the standard subscription, the price increase was 25%.
Customers who opt for monthly payments now pay an additional surcharge of 5% (compared to annual payments).
Microsoft 365 Copilot
Starting in December 2024, Microsoft Copilot has been available on a monthly payment basis for a 5% surcharge. This applies to Microsoft 365 Copilot, Microsoft 365 Copilot for Sales, and Microsoft 365 Copilot for Service on the new commerce platform.

Power BI
The first official price increase for Power BI took effect on April 1, 2025. The price for the Pro license has increased by 40%. Power BI Premium per User (PPU) saw an increase of 20%.
The company also introduced Microsoft Fabric as a new product, which is set to gradually replace the Premium license.

“Big” Price Change
The “big” price change came into effect on April 1, 2025. It affects Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) solutions, including Dynamics 365 Business Central, Microsoft 365, and Power Platform solutions.
Customers with an annual subscription who wish to pay monthly have been paying a 5% surcharge since the effective date. The same applies to the triennial subscription with monthly billing.

Business Central On-Premises and SaaS: Price Changes from October and November 2025
On-Premises
As in previous years, there were price adjustments affecting Business Central On-Premises and Dynamics NAV on October 1, 2025:
- Prices for purchase licenses increased by 10%.
- Prices for subscriptions increased by 10% to 14%.
- The 5% “On Azure” discount has been completely eliminated as of the effective date.
- Maintenance (enhancement plan) will cost 1% more from October 6.

Cloud (SaaS)
New prices will apply to Business Central SaaS licenses from November 1, 2025. This is the first official price increase in five years (according to Microsoft, the adjustments made in 2023 were intended to harmonize prices globally).
Microsoft justifies the price increases with a variety of enhancements to the cloud solution, such as new features and the integration of AI support. Customers will also receive more storage space.
Note: the new prices apply to new cloud subscriptions and to existing subscriptions being renewed on or after November 1, 2025.
