According to Microsoft, there are now over 430 million Microsoft 365 users worldwide. As M365 products continue to add new features, particularly in the areas of AI, security, and management, Microsoft is raising its prices effective July 1, 2026.
High Investments for Additional Features: Prices for Microsoft 365 Products to rise from July 2026
After Microsoft lowered the prices for its commercial cloud products on February 1, 2026, as part of a price harmonization process, global price increases are planned for the summer. These will affect Microsoft 365 subscriptions for both commercial and non-profit customers.
Microsoft justifies the price adjustment by pointing out that Microsoft 365 products are constantly adding new useful features and functionalities, particularly with regard to Copilot/AI. The company has recently made massive investments and released more than 1,100 features for Microsoft 365, Security, Copilot and SharePoint last year.
Microsoft 365: These New Features are Available
For example, advanced Copilot chat features are added in 2026. There are also being added enhanced email security features of Microsoft Defender for Office 365 Plan 1 to Office 365 E3 and Microsoft 365 E3. These help protect companies even better against phishing and malware.
Microsoft 365 E3 and Microsoft 365 E5 receive additional endpoint management features. These include Microsoft Intune Remote Help, Intune Advanced Analytics, and Intune Plan 2.
Microsoft 365 E5 will also include Security Copilot, a security solution that helps investigate and remediate security threats and quickly resolve IT issues, for example.

Biggest Adjustment for Business Basic and no Change for Business Premium - the New Prices in Detail
Microsoft 365 Business Basic is most affected by the adjustment: the price for the basic package increases by $1 per user per month.
It is also noteworthy that two products are spared from the price increase; Microsoft 365 Business Premium and Office 365 E1. This significantly reduces the price difference between Business Standard and Business Premium.
The price adjustments in US dollars are expected to be as follows:

Incidentally, the last price increase for Microsoft 365 took place in 2022. At that time, Microsoft implemented price increases of between 9% and 25%.
Who is affected by the Price Adjustment?
The new prices apply to existing subscriptions from their renewal date, provided this falls on July 1 or a date after July 1. For new subscriptions, they apply from July 1, 2026.

If you already have Microsoft 365 subscriptions, it is worth considering the option of early contract renewal before July 1. This will allow you to benefit from the lower prices for even longer and “postpone” your price adjustment.
